Winter Near Montreal
Maurice Cullen, c. 1891–1901Maurice Cullen was a Canadian painter known for his wintery landscapes. He was also dubbed one of the “official war artists” of WWI. Before joining the Canadian forces in 1918, Cullen had traveled to Paris at the age of 22 to study painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and at the Académie Julian, where he was influenced by the Impressionists.
