And They Still Say Fish are Expensive!
Joaquín Sorolla, 1894Joaquín Sorolla was born in Valencia, Spain in 1863 where he was raised by his aunt and uncle. He studied the masterworks of the Museo del Prado, and subsequently traveled to Rome and Paris to learn painting in a more official setting. Sorolla’s work is characterized by a fascination with bright, sparkling light, as well as the landscapes and people of his native land. His paint handling shows a mix of Renaissance influence and the Impressionistic style that emerged in Paris during his career.
