Forest Fire
Raden Saleh, 1849Saleh was born in the Dutch East Indies in 1811 (now Indonesia), to a noble family of Indonesian and Arab descent. He painted a great many portraits of the Javanese aristocracy and landscape. He is considered to be the first ‘modern’ Indonesian painter.
