Émile Bernard

Émile Bernard was a French Post-Impressionist who held friendships and often collaborated with other well-known artists of his time including Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and Paul Cezanne. Like his contemporaries, Bernard’s work often showed vivid colors and geometric, flowing figures. Bernard also established a theory of his own called Cloisonnism—a style of painting with bold forms separated by dark contours.
