The Morgan Library & Museum: Curated Picks

The Morgan Library & Museum is one of New York’s lesser known treasures. The museum was originally designed to house J.P. Morgan’s personal library, which included a number of rare books and manuscripts dating back to the Medieval Era. Though known for its excellent collection of Medieval manuscripts and picture bibles, the Morgan also holds Renaissance sketches from Masters like Michelangelo, Rembrant, and Leonardo; Northern Masters like Dürer and Rubens; and Impressionists like Cézanne and van Gogh. As if that’s not enough for a Manhattan building, the Morgan also holds original sheet music from Mozart, Bob Dylan’s handwritten lyrics for “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and original poems, journals, and manuscripts by the likes of Lord Byron, Charlotte Bronte, Charles Dickens, Henry David Thoreau, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and William Blake.
