Pieter Bruegel the Elder

Pieter Bruegel - a Netherlandish painter, printmaker and draftsman - specialized in creating busy, colorful and sometimes comical landscape scenes, depicting the everyday lives of working people . Bruegel’s subject matter earned him the nickname, “peasant Bruegel”, although in reality he came from a large and renowned southern Netherlandish family of artists who were active across the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
