John Tenniel: Alice in Wonderland

John Tenniel was an English illustrator and political cartoonist whose satirical works became popular in the later part of the 19th century. Tenniel is most noted for his role as the cartoonist for the British magazine Punch, where he worked for more than 50 years. He also illustrated a number of books, like these works he created for Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Tenniel’s incredibly subtle and clever illustrations suited Carroll’s text perfectly, winning him an international reputation and a large following.
