The Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection is a public art museum in Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia. The museum’s 185 works come from the private collection of Pavle Beljanski, who wanted to donate his art to the Serbian people. The 35 Serbian or Yugoslav artists represented in the museum worked from the early to the mid–20th century. The museum’s earlier works (from the World War I era) display emerging iterations of Modernism. While viewing the collection, viewers can trace Modernism’s development through works made between the wars, and its legacy in works made after World War II.
