With the rise of the Nazi party in 1933, cultural standards were put into place, and art was no exception. Adolf Hitler believed that classical art (especially Greek and Roman) was aligned with his views on the supremacy of the Aryan race. This meant that the modern artworks of the time that used vivid colors, expressive lines, and minimal detail were deemed unworthy, or “Degenerate.”
