Berthe Morisot, Marie Bracquemond, and Mary Cassatt were Impressionist artists pursuing art in a time when women were not considered equals. Nonetheless, the three painters cemented themselves in art history as “Les Trois Grandes Dames” (“the three great ladies”), a phrase coined by the famous French art historian, Henri Focillon in 1928.
