Honoré Daumier

Honoré Daumier was a French draftsman and painter who produced around five thousand lithographs, woodcuts, and drawings over the course of his career. His works are best remembered for their satirist commentary on the French society at the time—including caricatures of politicians, as well as his fellow countrymen. Daumier was a gifted painter as well, but it was not until after his death that his paintings gained much notoriety.
