NASA’s Senior Contract Photographer Bill Ingalls has been bringing the organization’s actions to the public eye since 1989. The job has required a lot of innovation and manipulation of new photographic technologies. Having photographed seemingly explosive space launches, active volcanoes, the Kazakh steppes, and the heart of hurricanes, Ingalls’ oeuvre is certainly more diverse and action-packed than most photographers’. Ingalls is responsible for capturing the epic-ness of NASA’s projects as well as the deep emotion of astronauts returning to earth after months in space. His personal photographs capture the diverse majestic glory of Earth, sometimes with sweeping views and sometimes focusing on the minute details we might usually surpass.
