Bernardo Strozzi was an Italian Baroque painter and engraver at the turn of the 16th century whose subjects matched the popular genres of the period, including history, allegory, portrait, and still life. He is revered for evolving his painting style throughout his life and career, embracing mannerism, Caravaggist, Northern Renaissance, and impasto styles at different moments. His amalgam of influences merged into a unique style that partly defined Venetian Baroque painting.
