Gaspard-Félix Tournachon, better known by his pseudonym Nadar, was a French photographer who worked with cameras in their early iterations. Nadar photographed notable politicians, actors, painters, writers, and musicians, participating in the new ability to easily distribute images of celebrities, which solidified these personalities personal brands. In addition to a career as a photographer, Nadar was also a journalist, character artist, novelist, and avid proponent of man traveling via balloons.
