Fujishima Takeji was a Japanese painter involved in the Yōga movement. Takeji began his career as an artist after studying in Kagoshima, Japan, and later more rigorously in Tokyo. Influenced by Romanticism, Impressionism, and Art Nouveau, Takeji traveled to France to learn and practice western oil painting techniques. Upon returning to Japan, Takeji became a teacher.
