George Peter Alexander Healy was an American portrait painter who worked in the later half of the 19th century. He met Thomas Sully and Gilbert Stuart as a teenager and studied under Antoine-Jean Gros. He became a sought after portraitist and his sitters included John Qunicy Adams, Pope Pius IX, Ulysses S. Grant, Sally Ward, and Abraham Lincoln.
