Félix Vallotton was a printmaker and painter working in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. Vallotton is closely associated with the avant-garde group of artists known as Les Nabis for his flat colors, unusual compositions, strong lines, and pared down detail. Early in his career, he developed an innovative, graphic style of woodcut that is reflected in his paintings.
