Antonio da Correggio

Antonio Allegri da Correggio—better known as Correggio—was a pivotal figure of the Italian Renaissance, responsible for some of the most sensuous works to come out of the 16th century. His use of dynamic composition, illusionistic perspective, and dramatic foreshortening later became a foundation for the 18th century’s Baroque and Rococo styles. Correggio is remembered for his eclectic, decorative ideas that left an impact on painters long after his death.
