English textile designer William Morris was a leading member of the British Arts and Crafts Movement of the late 19th century. He was well known for his pattern designs and for his vision to meld art and industry, emphasizing that design and production should act as one. His idea that those who design an item should manufacture them as well played an important role in the evolution of design and how we know it today.
